Make Carrot Soap

Carrots: good for you inside and out.

As a child, you were told to eat carrots because they're good for your eyes. According to the World Carrot Museum, carrots are good for your skin, too. The high levels of carotenoids in carrot juice and carrot seed oil help protect your skin from free radicals, encourage cell renewal, and soothe and rejuvenate skin.

Instructions

1. Fill the bottom pot of your double boiler two-thirds full of water. Heat on low to medium low until water begins to simmer. Place the top pot on the bottom pot.

2. Pour 8 oz. castile soap flakes, 3/4 cup 100 percent carrot juice and 1 tbsp. 100 percent vegetable liquid glycerin into the top pot. Combine well and continue to stir until the mixture begins to melt.

3. Add 2 tbsp. each all-natural honey and shea butter to the soap mixture. Stir gently and continuously until the mixture is completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat.

4. Add 5 drops each cold-pressed carrot seed oil and essential oils of vanilla and cinnamon. Using a stick blender, whip your soap mixture for five to eight minutes or until thickened.

5. Pour the soap mixture into your soap molds. Place the molds in a cool, dry environment. Allow the soap to set for 24 hours or until it is hard enough to remove from the molds.

6. Remove the soap from your soap molds and place it on a drying rack or clean wax paper. Allow it to dry for 2 weeks. Turn the soap every day to allow for even drying and to prevent warping.

7. Wrap your finished soap in plastic wrap and store it in a cool, dry place.
