Make Rockin' Guacamole

Ripeness of the avacado is one of the keys to good guacamole.

Spring is literally right around the corner, and with it Cinco de Mayo celebrations. The last thing you'll want to be without is a good guacamole recipe. Guacamole, which dates back as far as the ancient Aztec civilization, gained popularity in the United States in the 1950s, according to Devanie Angel, of easyguacamole.com. Other secrets to good guacamole is the ripeness of the avocado and the balance of ingredients.

Instructions

1. Mash avocados in a bowl using the potato masher. You can add a touch of squeezed lime if needed to soften. Again, the ripeness of the avocado is important. An unripe avocado is next to impossible to mash and does not have the flavor of a ripe one.

2. Add onion, peppers, and garlic into the bowl. Mix well into the avocado mix.

3. Add tomatoes and tomatillos.

4. Cut the lime in half and squeeze both halves into the guacamole mix. Add Tabasco and chili powder.

5. Add sour cream and fresh cilantro and mix well. Dip can be served chilled or at room temperature.
