There are many ways to enjoy Las Vegas and what it offers.
Las Vegas is not a city where you need to enjoy gambling to have a good time. Nevada's largest city is more than just casinos. To have a great trip to Las Vegas, diversify what you do. Don't just hang out in a casino. Soak up the city. There are many points of interest off the strip or away from downtown.
Instructions
1. Tour your surroundings. You can take a bus tour around the city and learn about its history. Fly by helicopter out to the Grand Canyon. Drive southeast to Lake Mead and take in the Hoover Dam. At night in the Stratosphere Casino, go up to the observation deck and see the lights of the city.
2. Take in a show. Not every show in Las Vegas costs an arm and a leg. There are shows available for budget-conscious travelers; those who aren't worried about spending limits; and everyone else in between. Look for deals when you are making travel arrangements because some agencies offer reduced prices on show tickets.
3. Package everything together. The great recession of 2008-09 reduced demand for travel to Las Vegas, so to lure you back to travel packages may not be as expensive as you would think. Finding a deal on airfare, hotel and rental car packaged together substantially lowers the overall cost, leaving you with more money to spend on meals, souvenirs and other Vegas specialties.
4. Shop around. There are plenty of places to purchase souvenirs; outlet malls abound in Vegas. Shops with lower-price merchandise and shopping malls with chain stores and higher-end products are all over the city. The strip and downtown areas also offer shopping opportunities and places to enjoy meals.
5. Gamble and win. Casinos hope to keep all of your money, but the occasional jackpot is hit at all casinos across the Vegas area. The thrill of hearing the bells go off and seeing the machine go wild is what you want experience when playing. Enjoy the casino games in moderation. Set a budget and stick to it.
