Make Grilled Portabella Mushrooms

make grilled portabella mushrooms

Grilled portabella mushrooms are an easy and tasty addition to dinner cooked on the grill, becoming juicy and full of flavor when grilled. Grilled portabella mushrooms are also delicious when served as a main meatless dish, or incorporated into a savory sandwich, as their texture lends well to a meatless recipe. This simple recipe for grilled portabella mushrooms has many possibilities and is sure to please.

Instructions

1. Preheat grill to a medium heat, as grilled portabella mushrooms will burn over a high heat. Spray cooking grate with non stick cooking spray before adding to the grill. Whether you use a charcoal or gas grill, either should work equally well.

2. Brush off portabella mushrooms removing any debris or loose pieces on both sides of mushroom caps. Rinse them well and pat dry.

3. Remove the stems from the portabella mushroom caps. Simply grab hold of the stems and snap off. You may set these aside to chop up and use in another recipe.

4. Brush portabella mushroom caps with extra virgin olive oil, coating both sides very well. The olive oil will soak into the mushroom fairly quickly, brush again with a second layer when this happens. Add a dash of salt and pepper to both sides of portabella mushrooms.

5. Place portabella mushrooms on heated grill. Let cook several minutes on each side. You will know the grilled portabella mushrooms are done when they turn a darker color and looked shrunken a bit.
