With today's hectic pace, it is almost a given that you will probably cook hot dogs for dinner at least occasionally. However, you don't have to serve the same boring hot dogs with a dab of canned chili sauce on them every time. Liven up your chili dogs with some unusual accompaniments that will make your mouth water and impress even the most finicky eater.
BBQ Chili Dog
If you love a Southwestern twang in your food, add a dash of barbecue sauce to your chili dog. You'll still get the chili dog taste, but you'll also enjoy the smoky enhancement of barbecue. A barbecue chili dog can be as unique as the type of sauce you use. You can find numerous varieties of sauce in your local grocery store, including honey barbecue sauce, smoky barbecue sauce and even chipotle barbecue sauce.
Bacon Chili Dog with Cheese
Add a little crunch to your chili dog with bacon crumbles. The bacon also adds a salty maple flavor. Top with a bit of shredded cheese to bring out the flavor of the bacon.
