Perfectly Hard Boil Eggs Method 2

Make perfectly hard-boiled eggs every time.

Hard-boiled eggs are an ingredient in a number of recipes; they are also tasty when sliced if they're still slightly warm and served with some mayonnaise and a salad. However, getting your eggs perfectly hard boiled takes a little practice. The following method ensures you have perfect hard-boiled eggs every time.

Instructions

1. Use eggs that are a few days old and preferably at room temperature. Very fresh eggs can be difficult to peel when they're hard boiled.

2. Put the eggs in a saucepan and ensure the pan is large enough for the eggs to move around while cooking. Fill the pan using cold water to just about ½ inch above the eggs.

3. Put the pan on the stove and turn on the heat to high. Let the water come to a boil and then reduce the heat so the water bubbles gently. Set a timer to go off after 6 minutes if you like hard-boiled eggs slightly soft in the center, or 7 minutes if you prefer the center to be hard.

4. Turn off the heat when the timer goes off and drain the water from the pan. Place the pan under running water for a minute. Turn off the tap and place the pan of water to one side, leaving the eggs in the pan to cool for 2 to 3 minutes -- just enough so you handle them safely.

5. Remove the perfectly boiled eggs from the pan. Peel your eggs when you want to use them in a recipe or eat them.
