Use A Cleaver

A cleaver is a heavy, broad-bladed knife that is used to cut meat or large items. Using a cleaver can making cutting food easier. Whether you are cutting meat to go on the grill or you are preparing delicate slices of meat or vegetables for an elegant dinner, the cleaver is the perfect knife to make cutting effortless.


Instructions








1. Plan the meal. Establish what kind of meat or food you will be cutting, such as meats and poultry bones or soft foods such as vegetables.


2. Determine which type of cleaver you will need to use. The three standard types of cleavers are heavyweight chopper, lightweight chopper and medium-weight chopper.


3. Prepare a clean cutting board to place meat or food.


4. Grasp the handle with one hand. Use your primary hand so that you have more control over the cleaver.


5. Position the food or meat with your other hand.


6. Lift cleaver slightly and slowly.


7. Press down and cut carefully. Use your other hand to press down on the top of the cleaver.


8. Cut the meat into strips or pieces.


9. Chop the veggies or food. First slice the food, then move the cleaver in a seesaw motion until the food is chopped into appropriate sizes and pieces.


10. Clean and care for the cleaver by hand washing it with hot water and soap. Wash after each use and then dry thoroughly. Once dry, rub on a thin coat of vegetable oil on both sides of the blade.


11. Store the clever in a place that is safe and out of reach of children.
