Turn Sugar Into Powdered Sugar

Make powdered sugar at home and use them on all your favorite recipes

Powdered sugar dissolves easily and is commonly used to make desserts and beverages. If you have run out of powdered sugar and do not have time to run to the grocery store, make your own powdered sugar using granulated sugar and a food processor. The recipe yields 4 cups of powdered sugar or confectioner's sugar. Cornstarch acts as a binding agent and help the powdered sugar mix easily with other ingredients. It, however, does not effect the taste in any way.

Instructions

1. Place the sugar and cornstarch in the food processor bowl. You may use a blender if you don't have a food processor.

2. Switch on the machine on high and continue the process until the mixture turns into a fine powder.

3. Test the consistency by stirring the mixture with a spoon. This is important as sugar might cling to the sides of the bowl and not get powdered.

4. Use the powdered sugar as your recipe requires. Store the leftovers in an airtight container or zip-top bag.
