Chunky Monkey Ingredients

Chunky Monkey is one of close to 50 Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavors. It has a base of creamy banana ice cream which is blended with walnuts and chocolate fudge. Like all ice creams, Chunky Monkey is created in a churning process that combines cream and sugar in a cold environment, making a creamy dessert or snack. What makes Chunky Monkey different are the other ingredients added to this base.

Dairy

Chunky Monkey is primarily ice cream, so it has a base of dairy ingredients including cream, skim milk and milk fat.

Sweeteners

Sweeteners also factor highly into ice cream ingredients, including Chunky Monkey. This Ben and Jerry's flavor uses liquid sugar and sugar to sweeten this banana-flavored ice cream. Coconut milk also sweetens Chunky Monkey.

Soy Products

Soy is one of the biggest cash crops produced in the United States. Because of this, it is used in a variety of foods, including Chunky Monkey. In this ice cream, soy comes in the form of soy lecithin, which is coincidentally a natural treatment for herpes.

Flavorings

What makes Chunky Monkey different from all other ice creams is ultimately its flavor: banana ice cream. Chunky Monkey is flavored using bananas, walnuts and cocoa. Concentrated lemon juice may be a surprising flavor ingredient, but desserts frequently use lemon juice to balance and brighten flavors.
